Περιγραφή

In this course, we will review the network architectures of production Core, Metro, access and LAN networks. Core and Metro networks are based on optical wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) and wavelength switching technologies. We will review the basic building components for Core and Metro networks: optical components, transceivers, optical links, optical switch architectures, and discuss the basic planning and operating problems for such networks. The study of the access networks will consist of two parts: wired (DSL, cable, and main focus on passive optical networks – PON) and wireless (4G, 5G). Finally, we will review the LAN network architectures deployed in datacenters and discuss about Cloud Computing networks.
