The Geopolitics of Energy and Security course covers topics related to the interaction of geographical, political, military and economic aspects and their impact on energy and security issues. Geopolitics is the geographical analytical method that studies, describes and predicts the distribution of power. The methodology that will be used throughout the course in order to describe and analyze the various case studies will be that of the Systemic Geopolitical Analysis. The geographical focus of the course will be the Eastern Mediterranean, the Middle East and Central Asia and the case studies will cover an extensive period from the Cold War to the Syrian War. Some of the issues that will be analysed are the oil and security crises of the 1970s, the Gulf Wars, the Arab Uprisings, the Syrian War, the India-Pakistan conflict, the South China Sea disputes, the Indo-Pacific competition and the new power politics between the US, Russia and China.
