POLITICS, CULTURE AND COMMUNICATION
SUMMER SCHOOL 2018
The “Politics, Culture and Communication” summer school is co-organized by the following universities:
- University of Athens (Postgraduate Program “Political Science and Sociology”, Department of Political Science and Public Administration)
- European University - Cyprus (School of Humanities and Social Sciences)
- Free University of Berlin (MA in Modern Greek Studies)
- New York University (MA in Hellenic Studies)
Following the success of the first years, that established the foundation for this international collaboration in the field of political science, the 2018 summer school aims to further investigate the possibility of the introduction of a joint international MA Program with a strong interest on South European political culture.
Concept
The summer school includes course-modules and workshops focusing on -cultural- identities and otherness from a social and political point of view and bringing different cultures in contact. The central aspect of interest lies on the reciprocal influence between central European Mediterranean cultures and the political investment in such differences. The triangle relation between Greece, Turkey and Cyprus, one of the most acute crisis centers in modern Europe and a central study area for cultural conflicts is a field to be explored under the aspect of North - South European relations.
Structure
Discussions during course-modules will be held in English involving teaching colleagues from the participating departments/countries.
