SHORT BIO: Irene Kamberidou (BA, MA, PhD) is an Associate Professor of Sociology and Gender Issues at the University of Athens, the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport Science (http://www.phed.uoa.gr) where she teaches the undergraduate courses Principles of Sociology (2003-2018), Gender issues and Sport (2006-2018), Olympism: a Sociological Approach (2009-2010) and the graduate Sociology Seminar (2011-2017) She received her BA and MA from Emmanuel College and Boston College respectively, Boston, Massachusetts, USA and her PhD from the Sociology Department of the Panteios University of Social and Political Sciences in Athens, Greece.  Dr. Kamberidou also studied at the la Sorbonne de l'Université Paris (Paris IV)–dedicated to Literature, Civilizations, Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. Dr. Kamberidou is the Greek representative of the International Association of Physical Education and Sport for Girls and Women (IAPESGW) and currently going through the application procedures for membership in the International Council of Sport Science and Physical Education (ICSSPE/CIEPSS). She is also a member of  Sport & EU, the Panhellenic Union for the Promotion of Women in Sports (PEPGAS), the International Sport for Development and Peace Association Platform (ISDPA), the European Sports Development Network (ESDN), as well as a member of the Executive Committee of the ECWT- European Centre for Women and Technology (http://www.womenandtechnology.eu, email: irene.kamberidou@womenandtechnology.eu.
