Περιγραφή Μαθήματος

Theoretical part with lectures in the amphitheater. The practical part cosists of teaching dissections of human cadavers derived from the Body Donation Program of our Institution. The meticulous and layer-by-layer dissection based on a protocol will contribute to the detailed teaching and learning of the typical anatomy, as well as anatomical variations.

Demonstration and description of the Spinal Column- Column-related vertebrae per level, Skull (neurocranium and viscerocranium)- Cranial fossae and related foramina both intracranially and extracranially.

Osteology, arthrology, syndesmology, peripheral vascular and nervous systems, organization into plexuses (cervical, brachial, lumbar, and sacral) in the areas of the upper (arm, forearm, and hand) and the lower (thigh, leg, and foot) extremities.

In-depth dissection of the head and neck, thorax, axilla, abdomen, groin, and pelvis areas.

Objectives include:

• Skull Anatomy
• Head and Neck Anatomy
• Thoracic Anatomy (Wall, Mediastinum, Pericardium, Diaphragm, Thoracic duct, vessels, and organs)
• Abdominal Anatomy (Wall, Cavity, peritoneum and ligaments, organs, and vessels)
• Pelvis (wall, floor, vessels and organs) as well as Perineum.

Attendance

This course is comprised by both lectures and lab practicals. Regarding lectures, the attendance is mandatory for 80% of the teaching hours (only 13 teaching hours can be missed). The attendance in lab practicals is 100% mandatory.

Learning Outcomes

Students completing this course are expected to demonstrate an understanding of the contribution of the deceased to the education of the living and display appropriate professional behaviors, including compassion and respect for the dignity of the departed.

Examination

The course "Descriptive Anatomy II" is examined in written form by means of multiple choice AND in oral form over  the cadaver.  In order for the grade to be promoted, the student is required to pass both the written and the oral examination. 

Dress Code

Physicians are expected to be groomed and dressed in a manner that presents a professional and neat appearance to their patients. Maintaining personal hygiene and wearing appropriate attire help to establish rapport with patients and are important to good patient care. These factors may have impact on the dress code policy at our institution. Dress code requirements in clinical settings are also influenced by personal and patient safety needs.

Shorts are not allowed.
