Physiology 3rd semester

Aim

At the end of this course, which is delivered by both lectures and laboratory practicals, students will be able to describe mechanisms underlying the following physiological systems and functions of the human body:

Endocrine system – Reproduction

Blood – Immune system

Musculoskeletal system

Metabolism

Thermoregulation

Objective

The main objective of this course is to provide knowledge regarding cellular physiology and physiological functioning of specific systems of the human body (see above).

Content

This course falls under the subjects of Physiology of Endocrine System, Reproduction, Blood, Immune System, Musculoskeletal System, Metabolism and Thermoregulation.

The course also includes laboratory-based teaching on the function and regulatory mechanisms of the above systems.

Attendance
The course is comprised by both lectures and lab practicals. Regarding lectures, the attendance is mandatory for 80% of the teaching hours (only 10 teaching hours can be missed). The attendance in lab practicals is 100% mandatory.
Examinations

The course is examined through written multiple choice question (MCQ) exams on material taught during lectures and laboratory practicals. The right to a written examination is granted only if all the lab practicals have been attended. In the case that the exam is not passed, the candidate can resit the examination during the resit examination period.
