Περιγραφή Μαθήματος

BIOCHEMISTRY I course provides a deep understanding of the metabolic processes in the cell that enable the production of energy including the catabolic reactions of sugars, lipids and proteins as well as the anabolic reactions of micro- and macromolecules biosynthesis. The aim of the course is to introduce the students to the regulation of these metabolic pathways both in normal body functioning as well as in situations of intense work, starvation, and pathological conditions of absence or reduced activity of enzymes.

The course also covers relevant research topics and lab demonstrations.
