Περιγραφή Μαθήματος
The course “Disaster medicine and Humanitarian Aid in the 21st Century and the EU”, designed under the Jean Monnet Chair (JMC) EU humanitarian medicine and response in action (EU MEDAID) and is already taught in the greek speaking programme as elective course. It aims to educate medical students on contemporary issues of disaster medicine, humanitarian medicine and interaction on the field. Natural disasters as well as the recent pandemic are typical examples that capture the need of familiarization with European institutions and their cooperation with national actors, regarding the management of public health risks. Τhis course provides an in-depth knowledge on the newly established unique features of European medical response and humanitarian aid to complex emergencies, through a combined use of civil protection and humanitarian medicine competences and mechanisms.
