(MEDIA521) -  Angelo Tramountanis

Περιγραφή Μαθήματος

This course offers an interdisciplinary introduction to the field of forced migration studies. It enquires into the complex nature, drivers and implications of forced migration, as perceived by a range of disciplinary perspectives, including anthropology, sociology, politics and international relations. Historical precedents to modern day displacements are covered, as well as the impact of protracted displacements and durable solutions to the host societies. Furthermore, regional dynamics in the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America are examined. Finally, particular attention is paid to special topics in forced migration, such as the role of UNHCR, gender and other identities, diasporas, health, morality and ethics, as well as the notions of human security and securitization.
