Welcome to Intro to Deeper Learning!

In this workshop we will connect theoretical knowledge on the areas affecting Deeper
Learning (Critical Pedagogy, Philosophy, SLA, TESOL methods and approaches,
Creative and Academic Writing, Presentation Skills etc.) with practical lesson planning
and activity design for a Deeper Learning course. We will also reflect on and investigate
teacher roles and power relationships.
Deeper Learning is a language education framework whose main tool is philosophical
inquiry. The syllabus is organized around a content area (AI, Visual Arts, History,
Literature, Biology etc.) or a Question (Who am I?, What is memory?, How do we
connect? etc.) and the English language is taught through the exploration of this area by
digging deep. Lessons are multimodal and transliteracy is central in terms of
methodology.
