The purpose of this course is to familiarize students with the dual nature of drama as both a literary and a representational art. We will focus on drama as a literary form as well as on developing skills on reading and critically analyzing dramatic texts. A collection of exemplary dramatic texts, in-class projection of audiovisual material, as well as occasional theatergoing and post-performance discussions will guide students through this course and will hopefully instill in them a strong interest in the art of theatre.
