Descrizione del Corso

The course introduces students to the elements and critical terms of poetry, while presenting a survey of English verse from Chaucer to the 20^th century, stressing the evolution of literary conventions, while connecting the poems chosen for study to specific cultural and philosophical movements. The course aims at providing students with experience in the reading, appreciation, and criticism of poetry and acquainting them with the major types, forms and periods of English poetry.
