Beschreibung des Kurses

The courses studies representative English, American and Irish playwrights within the context of the social and historical conditions of the 20th century. The students will become familiar with the aesthetic conventions and the ideology of basic theatrical trends like realism, expressionism, modernism, theatre of the absurd and other. The objective of this introductory course is to make students aware of the particularities of drama and theatre writing and enable them to understand and criticise theatrical discourse.
