This course will introduce students to the various styles and themes of English fiction, from the 17th to the 20th centuries, while teaching them the basic tools for the analysis of prose fiction.  The short stories and novels will be studied in relation to the socio-historical and cultural framework of the UK, as well as in light of the literary trends that shaped each period.
