  • Integrating Learning Technologies into Online, Blended and Face-to-face Teaching

This is a hands-on workshop which requires student engagement. Through inquiry and task-based learning students will become acquainted with the use of tools and the methodology applied in EFL classes. A flipped classroom approach will be adopted so as to provide the necessary theoretical background and act as stimulus for further reading and consolidation. Students will be given instructions before the workshop on how to access these resources. The course will cover a wide range of learning technology tools such as Web 2.0, QR code and scannable technologies. In the synchronous part, which will be online sessions through Microsoft TEAMS, an array of activities and techniques will be demonstrated so that students can have a hands-on experience.

Integrating Learning Technologies into Online, Blended and Face-to-face Teaching

    General Overview

The workshop focuses on how various learning tools/applications/social media and techniques can be employed to serve the learning goals of the EFL class in various environments such as online, face-to-face and blended learning. Integrated seamlessly into the lesson, technology can help learners boost their receptive and productive skills and motivate them to immerse themselves into L2 culture. It can also be used to facilitate the development of critical and creative thinking skills, and support communication and collaboration between students or classes.

The workshop aims at helping attendees gain insight in the field of digital learning tools with emphasis given on the practical aspects of ICT integration in everyday teaching such as selecting suitable tools and applications, safety and applicability issues. It will also focus on the latest applied methodology and current trends in ELT (flipped classroom, gamification, personalized learning) in order to exploit, in the best possible way, the potential offered by technology.  The presenters will also share the school’s experience from integrating and implementing innovative practices in the last 10 years and draw upon the experience acquired during the Covid19 lockdown and subsequent online teaching of all levels (K-12).

The attendees will be involved in designing lessons that cater to the learners’ needs and goals with the aid of technology.
