The aims of the present course are (a) the introduction of the basic concepts related to clustering, (b) the presentation of the most well established families of clustering algorithms, (c) the presentation of the present trend in clustering, (d) ways for evaluating the clustering results.
Two or three homeworks will be given, aiming at the helping in the better understanding of the theory presented in the class. In addition, several of the algorithms that will be presented, will be tested on a real data set, in the framework of a project.
