The rapidly advancing high-throughput molecular techniques allow the determination of the molecular "fingerprint" of each individual, facilitating personalized diagnosis, prognosis and treatment. Precision Medicine aims to enable the selection of the most effective, safe and targeted treatments for each patient, utilizing the knowledge and tools of Genomics and Personalized Medicine.
Precision Medicine is transforming modern medical practice.
The "Precision Medicine" course aims to provide trainees with the necessary knowledge on the new tools available (e.g. molecular / pharmacogenetic tests, biological therapies), the many new applications in the different medical specialties, and importantly how/when to use them in clinical practice.

Course Objectives/Goals
Upon completion of the program the trainees will be able to:
- Understand the methodologies used in different Precision Medicine tests
- Recognize the uses of personalized pharmacogenomics in the different specialties of Medicine
- Appreciate how targeted biological therapies work
- Distinguish between the advantages, limitations and potential of different biological therapies
- Recognize the role and potential of artificial intelligence in the development of new drugs
- Decide when and which pharmacogenetic tests should be applied in different cases
- Determine the most appropriate treatment for each patient based on pharmacogenetic test results
- Understand the unfolding role of an individual’s microbiome in disease and personalized treatments
- Be aware of ethical and financial aspects stemming from the implementation of Precision Medicine approaches
