If you wish you can write an essay of no more than 3000 words on any novel of your choice [with the exception of Northanger Abbey]. You'll hand in the essay on the day of your exam in Jane Austen.

You'll receive 2 extra credits if your essay is fine, 1 credit if it is mediocre and no credit at all if it is bad. The credits will be added to your exam grade. It is important that by the last class you'll have emailed me a tentative title along with a brief paragraph where you'll expose your argument.
