Field Trip to Olympia and Delphi (24–25 April): Presentation Schedule and Practical Information

As discussed, our two-day field trip to Olympia and Delphi will take place on 24–25 April. Please find below the schedule of student presentations, based on the course sheet linked HERE. Each of you should prepare your short on-site presentation on the monument, building, or theme assigned to you below. The presentation topics are listed in the uploaded schedule for the course 75202 Ancient Greek Art: An Overview.

Please prepare your presentation on the basis of the relevant Olympia or Delphi links included in the schedule sheet. These links should be your starting point, but you may also consult your lecture notes and any reliable additional bibliography where useful. Your presentation should be concise, clear, and suitable for delivery on site: aim for roughly 4–5 minutes, focusing on the monument’s date, function, architectural or artistic features, historical significance, and its place within the sanctuary as a whole.

A few practical reminders:

Wear comfortable walking shoes suitable for uneven archaeological terrain.
Bring water, a hat, and sun protection; we will be outdoors for long periods.
Please dress sensibly for variable spring weather; a light jacket is advisable in case of wind or rain.
Have your notes available in an easy format: printed sheet, notebook, or fully charged phone/tablet.
Do not rely on internet access on site; download or print anything essential in advance.
Please be punctual at every departure and meeting point, as delays affect the whole group.
As always on archaeological sites and in museums, move carefully, respect barriers and instructions, and remain attentive during your classmates’ presentations.

More detailed logistical information on departure times, meeting points, and any final adjustments will follow separately (via the Office).

Welcome everyone,

I just uploaded yesterday's notes (ppt presentation in pdf format).

Remember to check out the Latsis Digital Library (through Links in this platform), but also available through here.

I would suggest that, for our class, you start with the National Museum in Athens (page 153 and following), and the Acropolis Museum. Remember, these books are free (and legal) to download in pdf format.
